About us...

George and Nikki Taylor welcome you to our website.

The Mosshall Red Aberdeen-Angus herd is based in the central belt of Scotland at Mosshall Farm, Blackburn, West Lothian.

History

Mosshall Farm has been in the Taylor family for over 90 years. It was ran solely as a dairy herd until 2008 when we diversified and began producing AAX and SimX females to start our suckler herd.  The suckler herd now consists of around 80 females who are put in calf to an Aberdeen-Angus bull.  The progeny are then sold as store cattle at around 400kg in weight.  We are currently in the process of dispersing the dairy herd as the suckler herd continues to grow.

Red Aberdeen-Angus

In August 2011 we decided to establish a Pedigree Red Aberdeen-Angus herd to run alongside our suckler herd. The herd began with private purchases from the Windy Gowl, Kincardine Castle, Logie, Deveron, Newfield and St Fort herds.

We chose to breed Red Aberdeen-Angus due to their docility, easy calving and care, strong maternal nature, determined calves and excellent finishing traits.  We particularly liked the Red Aberdeen-Angus due to their rare abundance.

Societies and Health Scheme

We are members of the Aberdeen-Angus Society under the herd prefix MOSSHALL, and performance record with Breedplan - The International Beef Recording Scheme.

We are also members of the SAC Premium Cattle Health Scheme.
